July – the sun keeps shining!

July seems to have lasted for ever – that’s because I spent the second half of it in Sicily with the family and had a long relaxing time – I had a chance to trawl through them all and attach a few to tickle your tastebuds!  The rest are all on my website.  Looking at other people’s holiday photos can be dull, but hopefully mine will just give you a hint at the rich colours and beautiful country that Sicily is …..

The month started with a bump …. that of Anastasia!  She and husband, Steve, came over at the beginning of the month and we took some photos of her in her pregnant glory – some studio and some location type shots in the garden – I think you will agree she looks radiant!  Well, we all waited, and Henry arrived at the end of the month – so I look forward to seeing them all, and Henry’s sisters for a family shoot before we put together a collection of young, old and very new!

Ian and Ellie Taylor (May wedding) came over and we had lots of fun selecting their photos for their wedding album, which is currently in production, but I am very excited about the finished item arriving!

Some friends of mine asked me to take a few shots of their three handsome boys – so I headed over armed with camera – and as you can see we got some fab portraits, which I am in the middle of printing up for them and the grandparents!

As soon as the children’s hectic term came to an end we went off on our hols …. so not much more to report on my photography this month!  I was very disappointed to be pipped to the post by another photographer in my endeavour to become the photographer for Bath Rugby Club, but we shall see, maybe they will need me some time in the future!  So all those helpful ‘assistants’ who popped up to carry my camera bags will have to wait another day!

Sunny June 2010

A wedding, a 2 year old and Bath rugby players ….

Well, what a month of sunshine -  I wasn’t quite expecting that!  and a varied month with my camera and other distractions – the beginning of the month was half term, so spent with the kids, and then, for some mad reason I found myself in charge of the school fete!!!  No pressure like trying to organise the school fete – trust me!  However, the sun shone and everyone loved it  – happy bunny!

So where did I go with my camera this month?  Ok, it was a varied month – which is inspiring!  The highlight of June for me was definitely being in talks with Bath Rugby Club, who are looking for a new photographer …. ooh, could that be me??! Watch this space, but I seem to already have had a shoot with three of the guys – and what nice guys!  The thrill of seeing my images all over the store and blown up in the window – fab fab!!  Hoping to sign up as the Bath RFC photographer …. watch this space ….

I had a crazy weekend with my husband and kids camping in the forest …. several families from school signed up for a bushcraft weekend in a forest in Oxfordshire …. REAL basic …. a good break from life – no plug sockets, no computer, no email, no CAMERAS (!), no toilets …. fab! so, sorry, no photos to show you!

Huw (husband) and I managed a very rare trip away from the grind of family life to go to Wimbledon which was lovely ….. again, no photos!

I did work hard at my photography business and lots of admin got done!  It was much a month of admin at the beginning, and then at the end lots of lovely photography.

In the pipeline I have several weddings booked this month for the year ahead and a product shoot for a new company setting up a ‘table top’ business.

One of my shoots in June was a great project that seems to be becoming an annual event, which is photographing the year 6 kids at our school and making a ‘year book’ for them full of photos of themselves and their friends.  They have a great time signing each other’s books and putting them away as keepsakes.  Huw keeps pushing me to push this as an initiative to other local schools – it seems to be so popular and it does mean that lots of families will find out who I am and what I do ….

On 26th June, I had a fab day photographing the wedding of Sheree and Dean Cottle – a highly emotionally charged wedding (read lots of tears!), with the emphasis on family …. a wonderful sunny day at Guyers House, Pickwick near Bath.  A couple of days later I was in the home of Joseph Caccavale – 2 years old and DELIGHTFUL …. he led the shoot – he was totally in charge of Mum Sarah and myself, which was so much fun – look at some of the shots!  A couple of days later I found myself pointing my lens at Bath rugby players … someone has to do it!!  With a preggy shoot around the corner it’s heads down and working on post production for all these shoots …. I will surface shortly ….!!

Again, on the wedding front I was thrilled to hand over Joan and Andy’s beautiful Queensberry album covered in black silk (April wedding) and to see the emotion in Joan’s face when she ‘actually touched’ her wedding album.  It has also been a thrill to get together with Ian and Elllie, from 1 May, to collate the photos that they want to see in their album – ooh, how I love putting albums together and reliving the weddings of these friends that I seem to make along the way!

ooh and looking forward to a family holiday in Sicily – have camera and will travel!!!  SO looking forward to it and some travel photography ….

so I sign off for June …. happy hols all ….

And May …

The highlight of May was going up to the Lake District – a few days away from the computer, the busyness of family life and the phone (didn’t work up in the Lakes!) and doing what I love – photography!!  I had three days at the Annabel Williams CPT studio being inspired, and honing my marketing and sales skills!  The best bit was spending a day photographing – the emphasis of this course being portraits.  Fab to talk photography with other photographers and chew the cud in the Eagle and Child pub!!

When I got back I threw myself into creating more albums to show clients – have decided that Queensberry are the only ones for me – gorgeous, gorgeous and gorgeous!!  Joan, my bride from April, was bowled over when she got her album – I wonder if Andy, or anyone else, has been allowed to touch it yet!!

Inspired, I took my live in model (daughter Molly) into the garden for a little shoot – you can see for yourself how good she is!!  Smudge the dog didn’t want to be left out either.

The following day I took the family out for a walk under the pretence of fresh air and exercise – cunning – I wanted to take some family shots to show clients!!  What do you think?!  Sneaky hey!!

Another fab job this month was photographing product for a friend from school who has a Spa Products company – Blue Spa and Leisure …. Some of these are attached – I love the chance to get arty farty!!

Oops – took some time getting started! Looking back over April …

It has been such a busy couple of weeks since I decided to do a regular blog!!  So here I am – so, what have I been up to?

April was manic – three weddings and a wedding fayre (sounds like a film!) in four weeks – the first was Joan and Ian’s wedding just a stone’s throw from my house at the gorgeous Mill at Rode.  This was a lovely low-key family affair – and the sun SHONE for them!  It was glorious.  The next week I was in Wales (and I managed to swing a couple of nights in Chris Evans’ pub – the Newbridge Inn – FAB!) to photograph Dave and Cath Austin who tied the know in style at the Cwrt Bleddyn hotel in Llangybi – everyone dressed to the nines, and the wonderful flower displays and bouquets gave me an added dimension to the photography.  Then I had a week off weddings and then made my way over to Cambridge (taking my daughter Molly with me to stay with my parents for a little holiday!) – the cheeky couple Ian and Ellie became Mr and Mrs Taylor at the stunning Longstowe Hall near Caxton.  I have am posting some of my fave photos from these  weddings to share with you …..

A NEW BLOGGER IS BORN!!

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography, Uncategorized, Wedding Photography with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 20, 2010 by Vicki Bunn Photography

The newest blogger in the world – well for a few minutes I am sure …!

I have been so busy lately and photography is something that can be insular …. I’ve GOT to share it with someone!!  Shout from the roof tops – how much fun I am having with my photography!

I have done so much just lately I don’t know where to start – three weddings and a wedding fayre in four weeks, followed by a product shoot and then an inspiring course – now there is no stopping me!  And hopefully a bit of a rest and family time – bless them – I have had to spend a lot of time away recently – weddings at Longstowe Hall in Cambridgeshire, Cwrt Bleddyn in Wales and one on my doorstep – the Mill at Rode – tomorrow I will pop some photos up for you (when I get chance – and work out how!!) and my course was in the Lake District – those photographers amongst you will have heard of Annabel Williams – in her studio – fascinating!

And who am I – Vicki Bunn – photographer, mother, wife, dog-walker (when the sun shines!), tennis player, taxi driver for Jack and Dylan (both 9) and Molly (6) – you will see lots of them – all important elements of my life!!  I live just outside Bath with my family, the dog, the rabbit and the cats – a nice place to settle after years of travel with Huw, now my husband.

People ask me what sort of photographer I am – I’m not sure I want to pigeon hole myself – Wedding Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Product Photographer maybe ….. it’s more that I just am!!  I love it all – always different, always challenging and always rewarding!!  I make many friends amongst my clients – I enjoy being with them and I love their pleasure when I hand them an album or a framed image – created just for them, with them and ABOUT THEM!

There – my first blog …… more to follow!
